Rules for Windshield Survey

1. DO NOT leave your car.

2. Surveyors should work in teams of at least 3. Also, we have decided to have at least one male in each group.

3. Work earlier in the day and avoid working after 3 p.m. when people are more likely to be on the streets.

4. Be sure to carry your survey packets with you. They will contain the survey check sheet, maps and a letter explaining the purpose of our research.

5. Be sure to give Harold Tessendorf at least 24 hours notice of when you are going to be surveying. He will contact the chief of police to notify the police department that we will be on the streets. This is for your safety.

6. Each group is asked to carry at least one cell phone with them while surveying, to be used in case of an emergency.

7. Be sure to carefully log and document your findings. This will help avoid double-counting houses.

8. Be sure to log your hours carefully. You need at least 20 for Honor's Seminar. Also, the survey may count as service learning on your experiential transcript.
